GPL MATCH DAY 7: ELMINA SHARKS DOWN HEARTS OF OAK IN CAPE COAST
Elmina Sharks defeated Accra Hearts of Oak on Saturday by 2-1 at the Cape Coast Stadium to continue their impressive run this season.
Elmina Sharks dominated and went 2-0 up in the first half before Hearts of Oak pulled one back. Thanks to Felix Addo who got the first goal after pouncing on a cross from Daniel Obeng Crenstil.
With the rainbow boys struggling to contain the pressure from Elmina Sharks, their confidence was dealt another intense blow in the 41st minute following captain Obeng Crenstil’s magnificent
solo effort shot which beat Hearts of Oak goalie, Benjamin Mensah.
After recess, Substitute, Malik Akowuah gave the disappointed Hearts fans some respite with his fantastic long-range goal but efforts to grab at least a point in the game proved futile as determined Sharks were super on the day.
Head Coach of Elmina Sharks, Yaw Acheampong in an exclusive interview with www.atvgh.comsaid despite the smooth run over Hearts of Oak he still believes the league is too young for him to jubilate.
“Now it’s too early for us to say something because our first target is to have 40 points so we can escape relegation”. He stated
The former Black Stars player added that this season’s league looks highly competitive as compared to the previous ones.
“ Comparing last year and this year’s league is a different game all together because the league has improved this season due to this we are beefing the squad with some players to match up boot for boot with the big teams” he noted.
Striker Felix Addo who has scored his first goal of the season for the Elmina based team was adjudged as the NASCO Man of the Match for his splendid performance.
